LGBTQ and environmentalist from Cuba speaks in Amsterdam

Vrijdag aanstaande is de Cubaanse milieu en LGBTQ activist Isbel Díaz Torres in Amsterdam. Op 9 juni om 20.00 uur zal hij over zijn activiteiten spreken in het kantoor van X-Y, Wittenstraat 43-45 te Amsterdam.

Isbel is de coördinator van de milieuorganisatie El Guardabosques in Cuba (https://elguardabosquescuba.wordpress.com/ ), een autonoom links initiatief dat door middel van acties en het verstrekken van informatie het bewustzijn in Cubaanse bevolking over milieu vraagstukken wilt vergroten. Een thema dat sinds de economische hervormingen van de regering Raúl Castro steeds urgenter wordt.

Tevens maakt Isbel deel uit van Proyecto Arcoíris de Cuba (https://proyectoarcoiris.wordpress.com/), een onafhankelijk anti-kapitalistisch collectief dat vecht tegen de discriminatie en het stigma op niet-normatieve seksuele oriëntatie en genderindentiteit in de huidige Cubaanse samenleving.

Isbel is ook actief in el Taller Libertario Alfredo López. Een groep die werkt aan het herstel van de  anarchistische traditie in Cuba die sinds de revolutie van 1959 verloren is gegaan. Op dit moment richten zij hiervoor het sociale centrum, Centro Social Libertario, op.

Isabel is the co-ordinator of the environmental organization El Guarbabosque en Cuba (https://elguardabosquescuba.wordpress.com/ ), an autonomous leftist initiative that by making site-specific actions as well disseminating information raises awareness in the cuban society for the environmental issues. Issues that are actually accentuated due to the new economic policy of Raul Castro government.

Also he is a member of Proyecto Arcoíris de Cuba (https://proyectoarcoiris.wordpress.com/), an independent collective that fights against the discrimination and the stigma on non-normative sexual orientation and gender identity in Cuba now a days.

Isabel is also affiliated to Taller Libertario Alfredo López, a group working for the recovery of the anarchist tradition in Cuba. An tradition that  is halted since the revolution of 1959. At this moment Taller Libertario Alfredo López is in a process of formalising is activities as a Social Centre.
