Anarchisme en revolutie - Een lezing en discussie met Gabriel Kuhn

Donderdagavond 23 januari 2014 organiseren de Vrije Bond Amsterdam en Boekhandel Het Fort van Sjakoo een debatavond rondom het thema ?Anarchisme en revolutie? Anarchisten hebben altijd gesproken en geschreven over revolutie. De meesten van hen doen dat nog steeds. Maar hoe revolutionair is anarchisme nu eigenlijk? En wat bedoelen we als we het over revolutie hebben? De auteur/activist Gabriel Kuhn zal enkele ideeën rondom deze vragen met ons delen, waarbij de nadruk ligt op het hedendaagse anarchisme. Daarna wil Gabriel graag met ons in discussie over de kracht en de zwakheden van anarchistische politiek, de band met andere radicale bewegingen en de (on)mogelijkheden van revolutionaire perspectieven. De bedoeling van de avond is om gezamenlijk enkele sleutelkwesties van anarchistische en radicale politiek te verkennen. Wat wordt er gerealiseerd, wat zou er gedaan moeten worden en wat kan er gedaan worden? Gabriel Kuhn woont in Stockholm, is de oprichter van Alpine Anarchist Productions en de auteur/samensteller van een hele reeks boeken waaronder Sober living for the revolution: Hardcore Punk, Straight Edge, and Radical Politics, Von Jakarta bis Johannesburg: Anarchismus weltweit, Life Under the Jolly Roger: Reflections on Golden Age Piracy, Soccer vs. the State: Tackling Football and Radical Politics.

Anarchism and Revolution
Talk and Discussion with Gabriel Kuhn

Thursday evening 23rd of January 2014 the Vrije Bond Amsterdam and bookshop Het Fort van Sjakoo organise a talk and discussion around the theme 'Anarchism and revolution'. Anarchists have always talked about revolution. Most of them still do. But how revolutionary is anarchism? And what do we even mean when we speak of revolution? The anarchist author/activist Gabriel Kuhn will share some thoughts on these questions, with a particular focus on contemporary anarchism. The following discussion will concern the strengths and weaknesses of anarchist politics, its relationship to other radical movements, and the (im)possibilities of revolutionary perspectives. The evening's intention is to collectively explore some of the key questions of anarchist, and all radical, politics: What is being done, what ought to be done, and what can be done?

Gabriel Kuhn lives in Stockholm, is the founder of Alpine Anarchist Productions, and the author/editor of books such as: Sober living for the revolution: Hardcore Punk, Straight Edge, and Radical Politics, Von Jakarta bis Johannesburg: Anarchismus weltweit, Life Under the Jolly Roger: Reflections on Golden Age Piracy, Soccer vs. the State: Tackling Football and Radical Politics.
