Food, film, infobenefiet Anarchists Against the Wall

Een paar maanden geleden ‘vierden’ de Anarchists Against the Wall (AATW) hun 10 jarig bestaan. Dit is natuurlijk treurig moment omdat de bezetting van Palestina en de apartheidsmuur nog steeds voortduurt en zelfs uitbreidt. Dit herinnert ons opnieuw waarom verzet zo belangrijk en nodig is!

AATW is een grass-roots actiegroep die zich in Israël en in het bijzonder in bezet Palestijns gebied verzetten tegen het apartheidsregime dat de Israëlische regering handhaaft. Hierbij leggen ze hun focus op de scheidingsmuur die tussen Israël en Palestina wordt gebouwd door Israël, en wat gepaard gaat met veel landroof. Hele gemeenschappen worden van elkaar afgesneden, boeren kunnen hun land niet meer bereiken en er is veel militair geweld. AATW voeren samen met deze gemeenschappen actie en zetten zich in voor een vrij Palestina waar ‘Israëli’s’ en ‘Palestijnen’ naast elkaar kunnen wonen.

Om AATW (en hun vele proceskosten) te ondersteunen organiseren we een benefiet voku, info-praatje en filmvertoning in 1 avond. We zullen “5 broken cameras” vertonen: een documentaire over een Palestijnse boer in zijn geweldloze verzet tegen de acties van het Israelische leger. Een film-maker en activist met AATW zal over de film en de actiegroep vertellen. En niet te vergeten – lekker eten uit de midden-oosterse keuken zal worden geserveerd.

A couple of months ago AATW ‘celebrated’ 10 years of existence. This is of course a tragic anniversary as the occupation of Palestine and the apartheid wall still exists and grows. Which reminds us again why resistance is so necessary and important!

AATW is an actiongroup in Israël and Palestine that resists the apartheidsregime that the Israëli government imposes. They hereby focus mainly on the apartheidswall that is build between Israël and Palestine by Israël, with which there is also a lot of landtheft. Communities are cut off from one another, farmers can’t reach their lands from one day to the next, and there is a lot of military violence. AATW take action with these communities and make an effort with them for a free Palestine where Israëli’s and Palestinians can live together.

To support AATW (and their many legal costs) we are organizing a benefit dinner, info talk and film in one evening. We will be screening ’5 broken cameras’: a documentary on a Palestinian farmer’s chronicle of his nonviolent resistance to the actions of the Israeli army.

A film maker and activist in AATW will give a talk about the film and other information about the group and its actions. And of course – delicious middle eastern food will be served!”
